Kindergarten readers are anxiously awaiting their turn to share this Minion box* with their families. It is filled to the brim with hands-on learning activities to strengthen early literacy skills.
Magnetic letters and numbers are included for sorting, since early readers need to understand the difference between letters and numbers.
"Jewels" or "touch stones" encourage readers to match spoken words with written words. "Jewels" are placed under each word in the rhyme I Love Chocolate. Readers touch each "jewel" as they read
(see video above). Also included is a strip of colored circles. Readers touch each color holding their finger on the circle while both one syllable words and two syllable words are spoken. Sight word practice is reinforced by writing words on the dry erase board.
Directions for parents completes the Literacy Learning Homework Kit.
New activities matching latest classroom instruction, will replace the items in the box after the box has passed through all students' hands.
