In response to our query concerning a beginning writer writing right to left in the previous post, we compiled these helpful tips from an Occupational Therapist:
* highlight the left margin in green and the right margin in red to show the child where to start and stop while writing. This procedure may be needed for each letter, word or number.
*Using the Handwriting Without Tears visual cue of the smiley face in the starting corner would provide the writer with a starting point.
*writing from right to left could be a tracking issue but incorporating crossing midline activities could be helpful: windmills, cross crawls, marches, setting up situations for reaching objects to encourage crossing midline and tracking with eyes across a wall.
* this website for eye exercises was also recommended: http://eyecanlearn.com/
Hoping this information helps others with a similar writing issue.
